Electrical Power Engineering

VITOK’s Electrical and Power Engineering group has over 100+ years of combined experience in the industrial power system field. We offer a full engineering service suite that includes power distribution systems, emergency power backup systems, switchgear, motor control centers, lighting, building electrical, and custom power panels. Every VITOK power design begins with a detailed evaluation of the existing site power system. We utilize a combination of single line documentation, utility usage information, on-site investigation, and arc flash analysis services to evaluate existing site capacity and help ensure all power design modifications are implemented safely and in accordance with all applicable electrical codes.

With support from our other in-house engineering disciplines, we are able to achieve a continuity of design that is preserved throughout the electrical project lifecycle. During the power distribution and motor control center design phases, we work closely with our process and mechanical engineers on equipment specifications and energy considerations. This cross-disciplinary approach helps us prevent gaps in information and minimizes the inherent risk that comes with data transfer between technical disciplines. The end result is a fully vetted, well-researched, and coordinated power system design solution that maximizes energy efficiency without sacrificing the needs of the process.

Safety & Engineering – Integrated

Safety Is Engineered In, Not Added On

At VITOK, safety isn’t a final checklist – it’s a design input. From the first feasibility conversation to construction assistance and start-up, our safety engineers work alongside our chemical engineering team at every stage. That means hazards are identified early, and relief systems are sized correctly from the start. and compliance is built into the process rather than retrofitted after the fact.

01

Hazard Identification

Safety engineers join feasibility and scoping discussions to identify process hazards, toxic release scenarios, and regulatory triggers before a single line is drawn.

02

Design Integration

PHA, HAZOP, and what-if analyses are conducted during conceptual design -not after- so findings shape the process rather than force expensive rework.

03

Detailed Safety Engineering

Relief systems, SIS. area classification, and containment are fully engineered in parallel with process and mechanical design, using shared models and P&IDs.

04

Commissioning & Beyond

We support pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs), operator training input, and PSM documentation so your facility is compliant and ready to run safely from day one.

Pressure Relief System Design

Analysis of process relief scenarios and system design, including two-phase flow, piping analysis, acoustic-induced vibration, and flare system design.

Process Safety Management

Full PSM system development, process hazard analysis (PHA), HAZOP studies, and management of change documentation to keep your facility OSHA-compliant.

Process Flow & Instrumentation Diagrams

Detailed PFDs and P&IDs developed in coordination with chemical engineering design to accurately capture process intent and safety instrumentation.

Safety Instrumented Systems

SIS design and verification to IEC 61511, including safety requirement specifications, logic solver selection, and functional safety assessments.

Spill Containment Solutions

Secondary containment design for chemical storage and process areas, ensuring compliance with EPA, SPCC, and local environmental regulations.

Hazardous Area Design

Electrical area classification, equipment selection, and documentation for facilities handling flammable, combustible, or explosive materials.
